Big Battlefield Walks Weekends - Battle of Newbury I 1643

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Register of Historic Battlefields in England the Battlefields Trust and its partner organisations are arranging a series of battlefield walks in September 2025 to coincide with Heritage Open Days.
To encourage interest in battlefield heritage, the Battlefields Trust and its partner organisations are arranging a series of battlefield walks in September 2026. Come and join the Battlefields Trust to explore this Civil War battle which took place in 1643.
Join local guide Dave Stubbs to explore this pivotal Civil War battle where the Earl of Essex's parliamentarian army managed to to hold off the royalists and then return to London after relieving the siege of Gloucester.
Walkers are asked to let the walk organiser know by email ([email protected]) if they would like to take lunch at the Bowler's Arms at Falkland Cricket Club following the walk.
