Big Battlefield Walks Weekends - Civil War Battle of Winwick 1648
St Oswalds Church, Golborne Road, Winwick, Warrington, Cheshire, WA2 8LF
The battle of Winwick was fought on 19 August 1648 and lasted for up to six hours. The key locations where this significant action of the Second Civil War occurred will be explored and explained.
The walk will last for about 2 hours and involves walking on unpaved ground. There will also be a Heritage Open Day event at St Oswald’s Church, Winwick at which there will be displays, including of battlefield finds.
Meet at 1:00pm at St Oswald’s Church, Winwick, WA2 8LF.
