Bishopstone Station
The Old Ticket Office, Station Road, Bishopstone, Seaford, East Sussex, BN25 2RB
Built in 1938 for a large new housing development that was never built, it stands as a large suburban station, in a small semi-rural community. Bishopstone Station is remarkable as being the only station in the country with gun turrets incorporated into the building (added in 1940). It is also the place where the first railway worker and the first Sussex civilian was killed by enemy action in July 1940. Friends of Bishopstone Station have helped in the restoration of this iconic building over the past few years and plan to continue with this good work. The Friends have received several national awards for their community projects and for their restoration work. This event is being held in conjunction with the Artwave Festival and will run from 11:00-16:00 on the following days 6th & 7th, 13th & 14th and 20th & 21st September.
The Old Parcel Room, ticket office and the station atrium will be open to view. Artwave is being held in The Old Parcel Room.
