This guided heritage walking tour features the links between the various ethnic groups in creating the townscape of Northamptonshire by linking past and present buildings, landscape, and cultural artefacts in a curated narrative of the town centre. This memorable heritage walk features the hidden and undiscovered histories of black and ethnic minoritised groups and highlights the shared lived experiences of local communities. The heritage trail commences at Regent Square and ends at the Northampton Royal and Derngate Theatre and features ten points of interest over the hour-long tour. The tour is open and accessible to everyone able to engage in moderate physical activity of walking in the Northampton town centre. Discover the stories woven into the streets of Northampton’s urban town centre as along the way, we’ll uncover lesser-known histories, untold heritages, and surprising connections that have shaped the townscape that you see today.

The tour is open and accessible to everyone able to engage in moderate physical activity of walking in the Northampton town centre. There will be access to public rest rooms along the route.
Although the routes are not strenuous, please be aware that surfaces may be uneven and could be slippery when wet. We strongly recommend that you dress appropriately for the weather with warm/waterproof clothing and comfortable footwear. For your safety Please take care when crossing busy roads and always use the designated crossings where indicated. Please be aware of other road users and pedestrians, particularly by leaving space on pavements for people to cross safely. Please remember to bring a bottle of water.
