Boxted Airfield Story from 1942-1965. The top American Fighter Group in Europe (56th) destroyed over 1000 enemy aircraft. The only congressional Medal Of Honour awarded to a fighter pilot in Europe. A large fuselage section of the only surviving B26 Marauder Aircraft in the uk & largest collection of B26 artefacts. The 1st American Air Sea Rescue squadron formed in May 1944. V2 rocket motor. Anderson Shelter.
Aircraft that flew from Boxted include B26 Marauder, P51 Mustang, P47 Thunderbolt, Spitfire, Vampire, Meteor, Mosquito.
