Brandon Heritage Trail: historic town and river: guided history walk

This guided history walk along Brandon’s brand-new heritage trail route, led by Imogen Radford and OSBrecks volunteers, will take us down the busy High Street with its rich history from Brandon’s heyday as a local market town, then to the bridge where historic riverside inns past and present served travellers through this important river and country crossing point over many centuries. Optional loop to the railway station (to be decided on the day). Then we will walk along the river to the staunch, telling the story of navigation in carrying key goods to and from the town, and finally walk through the green spaces and the tree-lined Victoria Avenue that is the beautiful jewel in the crown of the town, before returning to Market Hill.

Starts from Market Hill – possibly in front of council building/old school ( exact location in the square to be confirmed) IP27 0AA What Three Words: hazy.crowns.hers Free parking for three hours, facilities (in the Brandon Centre), near to town centre shops for refreshments. Also possible use of facilities and refreshments halfway at the leisure centre. The walk will be accessible, along pavements and firm paths. Nearest bus stops George Street and near The Lode, about two minutes’ walk, https://bustimes.org/stops/390020066 ; and https://bustimes.org/stops/390020424 Brandon railway station is about 15 minutes’ walk.
