Guided walk through Branscombe with tour or Manor Mill.

Starting at the beach, the tour group will be taken back in time to look at the history of this unique and picturesque village. Expect tales of smuggling, struggling and the odd ghost. The route will head inland, taking in some highlights of the surrounding landscape, as well as giving an account of the village in its commercial heyday, looking at buildings that once housed general stores, carpenters and coffin makers, butchers and slaughter yards, and even a munitions factory. The walk will then arrive at Manor Mill, where a 20-minute tour of the premises will follow, complete with milling demonstration by guides in Victorian costume. Then it's across pastureland and through an orchard to the Old Bakery, where the walk will finish.

Accessibility details

Ramp to forge. Step to mill (no parking on site). Mill is accessed on foot along uneven track. Level access to Old Bakery, uneven floor. Accessible toilet available when Old Bakery is open. An easy graded trail with a stoned surface winds down to the beach from the NT car park. At the beach, the path meets a steeply sloping junction, which has a crossfall and meets a concrete sleeping policeman. These factors combine to make this final section potentially challenging for anyone with limited mobility.
