The Arts Centre stands on the historic site of Bridgwater Castle, which was dismantled on the orders of Parliament, leaving the area derelict for many years. In 1945, local arts patron Gwen Pollard recognised the potential of this site and envisioned a space dedicated to creativity and community. Thanks to her vision, Bridgwater Arts Centre officially opened its doors on 10th October 1946 and will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year.
