Take a tour of Brinkburn St Brewery and enjoy a a small display on the brewing-related occupations of people buried at Ballast Hills Burial Ground, including brewers, publicans, coopers, maltsters, labourers, and merchants.

Take a guided tour of Brinkburn St Brewery as part of the Ballast Hills Burial Ground (BHBG) Heritage Open Days programme. Led by the Brinkburn team, the tour will introduce the brewery, its working spaces, the craft brewing process, and aspects of local brewing history. Three 45-minute tours will run on Saturday 19 September. Places are limited, and booking is required.

Visitors can drop in to see a small display developed with the BHBG project. Ballast Hills Burial Ground is an unconsecrated burial ground used from about 1640 to 1853 by people from varied religious and social backgrounds. The display introduces brewing-related occupations found among people buried there, including brewing, public houses, cooperage, transport, labour, and local trade.

Visitors will have the option to purchase Ballast Hill Brown, a bespoke craft beer sponsored by Brinkburn St Brewery in support of the project.

This event can be enjoyed on its own, but also forms part of a wider BHBG Heritage Open Days programme taking place throughout Saturday 19 September. Other events in the programme include Everyday Histories at Ballast Hills, 10:30–14:00; Explore Ballast Hills, 14:30–16:00; Beneath This Ground, 16:00–17:00; and Twilight at Ballast Hills, 18:30–19:30. Please check the Heritage Open Days schedule for full details and booking information.
