Walsall is a town of often hidden architectural treasures. We are offering a rare opportunity to explore its archives with archivist, Ian Gray and view our wonderful collection of original building plans among other unique archival documents.

Visitors will be able to view highlights from our extensive collection of beautiful hand drawn building plans, from the grandeur of such iconic landmarks as The Town Hall, The Guildhall and The Science and Art Institute to the simplicity of its rows of Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian terraces. Each building, no matter its provenance, has a detailed building plan revealing the skilled hand of architects like H.E. Lavender.
The archive holds holds tens of thousands of documents, the oldest, a Grant from William Rufus on behalf of King John in 1225. Book a tour and see inside Walsall’s remarkable and ever changing history captured in its archives.
