Our Family Friendly Heritage Open Day for 2025 takes place on Saturday 20th September at Heron Corn Mill. There will be rural crafts, tours of the historic watermill and turbine house over the bridge. Lots to see and do for all. 1100-1600. free entry

Come and try out some rural crafts, marvel at the traditional working watermill, cross the bridge to the turbine house for a tour. In the barn and outdoors there are stalls and wood workers, Iron Shepherds Living History Group, the bee society with hives to explore, and friendly farmer Pat with his Herdwick sheep Heidi and her pram of babies will entertain families. Refreshments on site and fresh bread and cakes too!

We're located down a narrow lane alongside the River Bela. Our stewards will be on hand at the A6 junction to guide you to the car park.

A fairly steep ramped access from barn to mill. handrails to left and right. A video screen with audio narrative is available on the ground floor giving the history and background to the mill.
