Bullington Church Fete
St Michael and All Angels, Lower Bullington, Sutton Scotney, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 3RE
Celebrating the HODs theme of Everyday Histories, visitors will be able to see several features of St Michael's dating to the Middle Ages, when it was assigned to Wherwell Abbey, including: the Nave and Chancel, the Font Bowl, two windows and a doorway. Nestled by the River Dever, there is a neighbouring Mill that was rented by Saint Elizabeth's College in Winchester during the fourteenth century. The theme will also focus on the working lives of villagers in the 1960s when Bullington boasted one of the most successful mixed farms in Hampshire. The history of the Church and the village is now available in a book titled: Where East Meets West: The Hidden Charms of Bullington in the Dever Valley, which is for sale at P&G Wells in Winchester and at the village fete.

There is a small step into the Church, but a ramp can be provided if necessary.
A free guided walk will take place on Friday 11 September at 2 pm, beginning and ending at the Village Hall in Upper Bullington. This will take in several of the Grade II listed buildings as well as the SSSI, the disused Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway and the Church in Lower Bullington. The three mile leisurely walk normally takes two hours with frequent stops. Access along the public footpath is tricky due to several stiles.
