Join us for a day of historical discovery at Cainhoe Castle at Clophill Lakes Nature Reserve. Discover what life was like in a Norman castle and medieval manor house.

As part of Heritage Open Days, we are inviting you to discover Cainhoe Castle on Sunday 13th September.

Cainhoe Castle is a nationally significant Norman motte and bailey castle, with later medieval manor and fishponds, located within Clophill Lakes Nature Reserve.

Head over to our history hut gazebo opposite the riverside cafe to collect your materials, learn what life was like at the castle, and embark on a self-led trail to discover Cainhoe Castle.

No need to book, just come down to Clophill Lakes Nature Reserve and follow the signs from the car park.

Join us at our visitor centre to learn more about life in Cainhoe Castle. You can then follow a self-led trail to learn more about the interesting history of the castle. This trail will take you onto the castle site, which has uneven, rough ground. Around 1.5 miles total.
