Carnforth Library Exhibition and ‘Behind the Scenes’ Tour
Lancashire County Council, Carnforth Library, Lancaster Road, Carnforth, Lancashire, LA5 9DZ
Carnforth Library opened on 17 September 1936, so this year marks its 90th anniversary. It is one of the first generation of purpose-built libraries established by Lancashire County Library Service, and the only one in the north of the county still in operation today.
Discover how the library’s role in the town has evolved during the past 90 years and learn about the people who have worked in and used the library over the decades. Explore exhibitions celebrating the library’s history and join a special behind-the-scenes tour to hear its story and see parts of the building not usually open to the public but which help to reveal its rich heritage.
Try the Carnforth photo quiz and spot the local landmarks. Refreshments available.
Booking is required only for the full guided tour between 11am - 12 pm. Book your place on our webpage https://www6.apps.lancashire.gov.uk/w/webpage/event-details?eventid=4034973
