Catherine’s Farmhouse, Great Parndon
Catherine’s Farmhouse, Peldon Road, Harlow, Essex, CM19 4HT
The oldest sections of Catherine’s Farmhouse date between 1520 and 1570. Its most outstanding feature is its painted ceiling. This is virtually unique and a very rare example of a 16th century ceiling. It is particularly unusual as the paint is applied directly onto the underside of the floorboards above.

There are many steps and inclines on the tour.
This Heritage Open Day is being held in conjunction with nearby Great Parndon School and St Mary’s Church, Great Parndon. These properties are also of great interest and visitors are welcome on the day to both. Tours of the school need to be pre- booked.
