Join Transported in Spalding Market Place for free activities inspired by South Holland. Create unique headdresses with artists Emily Cartwright & Ruth Pigott, meet Lincolnshire Longwool sheep puppets, and share your future festival and event ideas

Visit us in Spalding Market Place on Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 September, 9am to 3pm, as part of Heritage Open Days 2026!

Join artist Emily Cartwright and Ruth Pigott for creative making activities inspired by the local area. Design and create your own paper headdress celebrating the waterways of South Holland.

On Saturday 19 September, puppet maker Robbie Bellekom will bring along their much-loved Lincolnshire Longwool sheep and lamb puppets for informal meet-and-greet appearances around the town. Originally created for the Hanse Day Parade, these woolly characters will be roaming the Market Place and delighting visitors of all ages.

The sheep may look familiar, echoing the MARK-IT Trail sheep statues developed with the Spalding and District Civic Society and located throughout the town centre.

Also on Saturday 19, Transported's Iain will lead a frottage art activity. Meet at the Transported gazebo and enjoy a guided riverside walk, collecting textures that inspire you before creating crayon rubbings of the Spalding Riverside Trail's engraved Stone Way Markers.
The nature-inspired marker designs were created by Emily Cartwright and Jamie Hawker of JRH Services, drawing on the symmetrical folk art of Wycinanki to celebrate the flora and fauna of the River Welland.

Have your say! Share your ideas for future cultural activities, festivals and events across South Holland.

Suitable for all ages. Drop in anytime.
