Chews House

William Chew 1656-1712. He became a member of the Distillers Company in December 1687. William was concerned about the plight of boys from poor families in Dunstable. He expressed an intention to found a school for poor boys in Dunstable but died before he could do this. Today Grants are given to students whose families are on limited means, living within the Dunstable area. The open day will include pop up banners on Georgian benefactors - Frances Ashton, Jane Cart, William Chew, Blandina Marshe and Mary Lockington. There will be various pictures and illustrations of the history of the building and the families' coats of arms. It will be attended by members of the Chew's Foundation for people to ask questions.
