Hear a talk from local historian Ray Alder on the development of Chippenham Canal Wharf.

Now a busy bus station, the view across from Chippenham Library was once home to the bustling canal wharf. This long forgotten arm of the Wilts and Berks Canal, once brought working boats to the heart of Timber Street.

This talk will focus on the development of the wharf in Chippenham, and the trades in Timber Street that relied upon it, until its decline in the late 1800s.

Part of the Timber Street Through Time programme of events.
