Our Grade 1 church of St Peter ad Vincula (St Peter in chains) dating back to Saxon times will be opening the bell tower, which is not normally open to the public. Come and see the six bells, two of which date back to 1664 and enjoy a view of the Marlborough Downs (a level of fitness is required to climb the tower) It was much restored by Ponting in 1879. It has a hammerbeam roof, an Elizabethan monument to a Wroughton and a 1645 monument to the royalist Colonel Granville. Spot the pilgrim marks around the outside of the church and get a unique insight into Broad Hinton's village past through local memorabilia on display. Complete your trip with refreshments in the peaceful churchyard.

Accessibility details
There is a large car park, with an uneven stone path to the church, not ideal for wheelchairs, but usable. The bell chamber is half way up the tower, which is narrow, steep and winding. The tower roof itself at the top is accessed through a very small door and is only accessible to those with reasonable fitness. Trainers are suggested, and no high heels.
