Church tours with display of village memorabilia. Refreshments available.
Broad Hinton, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN4 9PA
Our Grade 1 church of St Peter ad Vincula (St Peter in chains) dates back to Saxon times. It was much restored by Ponting in 1879. It has a hammerbeam roof, an Elizabethan monument to a Wroughton and a 1645 monument to the royalist Colonel Granville. Spot the pilgrim marks around the outside of the church and get a unique insight into Broad Hinton's village past through local memorabilia on display. Complete your trip with refreshments and enjoy our peaceful churchyard. Following a recent tower inspection a structural problem with the tower roof was identified, so we are unable to open this to the public at the moment. We are raising funds for its repair.
