Church of the Holy Redeemer, York
Church of the Holy Redeemer, Boroughbridge Road, York, North Yorkshire, YO26 6AB
Built in 1964, the Church of the Holy Redeemer was the first new church to be built in York after WWII. Designed by well-known architect George Pace, it comprises a mixture of modern and ancient materials, with 10th century stones taken from the derelict church of St Mary Senior, Bishophill. We are an inclusive and welcoming church and our friendly volunteers will be offering guided tours on Wednesday 16th September, and hosting a community cafe in the adjacent church hall. Lunch will be available from 1200 until 1400 and light refreshments will be available until 1500. A short community service will take place in the Lady Chapel at 1445.
The church will also be open on Sunday 20th September for guided or self-led tours and children's activities. Our weekly service is at 1000 and light refreshments will be served between 1100 and 1500.
A heritage trail is available on both dates, enabling visitors to explore the historic stones, look for furniture made by Mousy Thompson and learn more about the beautiful church.
