St Johns Church, Keynsham. Guided Tower Tour with photo opportunity of spectacular views of Keynsham
St Johns Church, 1 The Park, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 2BL
This tour will include the climb of the 50 steps to the ringing room, where visitors will be given a short talk on the history of the tower, including its dramatic collapse in the 17th century, and hear about the eight bells and observe a bell being rung. The 300-year-old clock, which has recently been restored, will be featured. Then for those who wish we will climb the further 50 steep and narrow steps to the top of the tower to take in the spectacular views of Keynsham and its surrounding area. Each tour will be limited to 12 people: it will need to be booked in advance and will take about an hour. If there is demand we may be able to repeat the event on the following Saturday, 19th September.

The stairs are steep and narrow, and some may find them claustrophobic. Those with certain health conditions should carefully consider the wisdom of making the climb. Sensible flat soled shoes must be worn – no flipflops. The church insurance does not cover children under eight making the climb, so they will not be allowed. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No bags to be taken up the tower so that both hands are free. (Cameras will be allowed). Secure bag storage will be provided in the church.
