Join Land In Our Names for Autumn Equinox, a celebration of community heritage at London's last functioning windmill. This event is by and centres people from the global majority, so members of those communities are especially encouraged to attend.

LION's celebration of community heritage builds transnational solidarity through shared learning across borders and generations.

The family-friendly day of learning will include:
*Creative migration and culture workshops by food historian Mama D and artist/researcher Jacob V Joyce
*Folk Music Circle Led by Calliope
*A free community meal
*Creative activities and crafts
*A live performance by artist Nadeem Din Gabisi

This event is by and centres people of the global majority, so members of those communities are especially encouraged to attend. Come hungry and leave fed.

LION functions as an ecosystem builder, creating opportunities for Black and People of Colour (BPOC) to connect with the land, with nature and with each other. We hold workshops and events for BPOC to skill-share, strategise and build networks of mutual aid and solidarity.

Brixton Windmill is London's last functioning windmill. Built in 1816, the mill uses the same millstones that were used in 1902 to grind flour. Windmill Gardens also hosts the Brixton Windmill Centre. Built by Lambeth Council next to the windmill and leased to the Friends of Brixton Windmill, the centre opened early in 2020 and is used as a visitor centre, education space, and a community venue.
