Court Garden and Higginson Park 100
The Seymour Room, Court Garden, Pound Lane, Marlow, Buckinghamshire, SL7 2AG
In 1926 a group of local citizens were concerned that a large estate in the centre of Marlow would be bought by developers for housing. An intense fundraising campaign was undertaken in the name of General George Higginson, a veteran of the Crimean War and a prominent local and national figure, who reached the age of 100 in that year. Their campaign was successful and resulted in the mansion and most of the park remaining in public ownership and open to visitors and local residents to enjoy to this present day.
