Cuckoo Farm Studios

Cuckoo Farm, Boxted Road, Mile End, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5HH

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Cuckoo Farm Studios was established over thirty years ago when a small group of artists moved in and began to turn this derelict farm into a suitable venue in which to work. Today it is the home of more than thirty artists.

The farm dates back to 1821 and in 1902 was purchased by the nearby Severalls Mental Hospital, so that patients could undertake therapeutic and healthy activities through working on the land.

Heritage Open Days coincides with the annual 'Open Studios' event, a great opportunity to visit artists in their studios, see print workshop demonstrations, outside workshops and demonstrations. There is also an Associate Exhibition in the Benham Gallery. Whether you are interested in talking to local artists and makers about their creative process, buying or commissioning work or looking for a pleasant day out we hope you will visit us.

Refreshments are available.
