Dalecote House (Coventry Masonic Hall)
165 Warwick Road, Coventry, West Midlands, CV3 6AU
Originally built in 1878 as a private residence for the Twist family (multi-generation solicitors of Coventry), Dalecote House is an imposing late Victorian property located in the heart of Coventry, and still retains many of the original features. Since 1975, the building has been the home for over 10 freemasons lodges (for men and women), which meet in Coventry. The oldest lodge has met continuously since 1755, the newest since 2018.
Visiting the building this weekend will provide you with an insight into the worldwide fraternal society of the Freemasons, and particularly their role within Coventry. Tours of the house, including explanations of its architecture, design and its role in local history are available on demand - no need to pre book. Come along and get this unique opportunity to look around this imposing house, including the masonic lodge room and view the displays of regalia and historic masonic furniture, including a special display of items relating to Col Sir William F Wyley (1852 -1940), an eminent philanthropist, local businessman, mayor and former Provincial Grand Master of Warwickshire freemasons. Local freemasons will be on hand to answer your questions and discuss the history of freemasonry in Coventry and their service to the community and charitable activities.
