Dartington Buildings and Elmhirst Heritage Centre Tour

Dartington Trust, Totnes, Devon, TQ9 6EL

  • 18 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Explore how Dartington buildings have evolved over the centuries - through the changes the Champernownes made over 366 years and see the former private residence of Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst.

Historian, author and popular speaker Rosemary Griggs will lead an hour and a half tour exploring the history of Dartington's buildings from the twelfth century through to the modern day.

We will finish with a tour of our new indoor visitor destination, the Elmhirst Heritage Centre, once the private residence of Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst so you can get a sense of how the building looked in its 1960s heyday. The period-refurbished ground floor rooms are now home to Dartington’s core collection of Modern British and American paintings and ceramics, whilst the upstairs rooms play host to a series of changing temporary exhibitions, inspired by our wider art collection and archive.
