The World's Only Rail Transporter, what was it for and what is its future? Only eight transporter bridges are left in the world.

Guided walk of up to 12 people, up close to the now decommissioned but once busy, bridge, via an interesting route involving a railway line, two signal boxes, a chemical works and the River Mersey. Your experienced guide from the Friends of Warrington Transporter Bridge will tell you its history, how it works and what it could do for the North West if it were restored.

Whilst wheelchair access is possible, nearer the bridge there is rough ground. Toilets are available at LIDL near the meeting point. Refreshments at KFC near meeting point Dogs welcome on leads
