Dodford Children's Farm Heritage Event
Dodford Children's Farm, Warbage Lane, Dodford, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 9BE
Since 1951, Dodford Children's Farm has welcomed children and families from across the West Midlands area. During its 75 year history the charity has offered thousands of young visitors the chance to experience the countryside, see farm animals and enjoy outdoor play. Many of the families are disadvantaged by circumstance or environment but benefit from time spent in the fresh air.
During the event visitors will be invited to explore the history of the charity and its social impact by viewing an exhibition of photographs and documents displayed in the conservatory. The Farm is set in nine acres of pasture and woodland with a stream flowing through. Visitors will be welcome to explore the grounds. The Farm is home to ponies, a donkey, sheep, pigs , rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and ducks.
It was founded by Dr. Dorothy Beaumont with Henry and Lucy Cadbury who continued to be involved for many years. Now the day-to-day work of the Farm is managed by a warden who works with the visitors and is overseen by trustees and a management committee. The charity continues to raise funds to meet ongoing costs and further expand its facilities and services.
