Dr Jane Grenville is an honorary professor at the University of York and will talk about her work undertaking a complete revision of Sir Nicholaus Pevsner's book The North Riding of Yorkshire, covering an area from the Westmorland border to the edges of York.
Towns covered include Whitby, Scarborough and Richmond, and different architectural styles from Castle Howard, the abbey at Rievaulx and the garden city at new Earswick.
Tea and coffee will be available after the talk.
