A wander through a unique historic town, with local Greeters sharing the stories of the many, many events and people that left legacies never to be forgotten.

Dover is a very well known name, mainly for the White Cliffs and the incredible Castle facing France, ready to defend our small island. Unfortunately most people know it through getting on a ferry to enjoy a Continental holiday – but never stop to enjoy the many layers of our island history from the forming of the White Cliffs and therefore an international port to the many visits of Kings and Queens, their marriages and their deaths and the legacies they leave.

For example, Henry VIII kept his personal yacht/warship in the harbour ready to face his main rival and Charles II returned from 24 years in exile after Cromwell was defeated, bringing with him a much loved spaniel ….

Two hours is not long enough to tell all the stories, but a good start to understand the role Dover had – and still has – in England’s history.
And then there is James Bond ….
