  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

A relaxed family workshop with artist Karen Howse using charcoal to explore the natural heritage of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape.

Join artist Karen Howse on Saturday 13 September in the courtyard at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery between 10am and 2pm.

A relaxed workshop using drawing as a tool for discovery. Use graphite sticks, charcoal and other drawing materials to experiment with mark making and observing the natural forms of plants, trees, stones and things found around the Gallery’s wild art garden. We will be making a collaborative drawing, with time to make your own folded Zine (a small handmade art book) to take home filled with your drawings of plants, beings and imaginings.

Karen will use her drawing cards to ease you into drawing and exercise your drawing muscles. Beginners especially welcome. This family workshop is geared towards ages 7 (to 99!) although younger ones are also welcome too.

All materials provided, but feel free to bring your fave pencils/pens. Dress for the weather. Refreshments and mats/ cushions will be provided.
