Discover the expressive power of paper collage. In this hands-on master class, participants will explore collage as both technique & storytelling tool - using guided art therapy to create visual narratives reflecting personal dreams & global themes.

Collage is a technique of art creation, primarily used in the visual arts, but in music too, by which art results from an assembly of different forms, thus creating a new whole. By putting all things together in a collage artwork, we can talk about important things happening in the world and tell stories about
culture and challenges.

Collage is widely used by Ukrainian contemporary artists, both independently and in combination with other media.

Yuliya Kharchenko invites you to learn more about the collage technique, as the definition of collage in art is both a technique and a form of artistic expression that involves assembling and combining various materials - such as paper, photographs, fabric, or other objects - onto a single surface to create a unified composition.

As a technique, it emphasizes layering and juxtaposition, often blending different textures, colours, and images.

As a form of expression, collage allows artists to explore themes of fragmentation, storytelling, and abstraction, making it a versatile and dynamic medium.

Micro-teach: During this master class, the participants will gain an experience with the paper collage technique and visualise their dreams with the help of guided art therapy. These are like puzzles made from paper pieces. People cut out or tear bits of paper and arrange them into a picture or design. They use glue to stick everything together, like making a beautiful paper mosaic.
