Towner has recently relocated Eastbourne Borough Council’s Heritage Collections to a new dedicated collections store. Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at these inspiring local history artefacts in their brand new home.

Over the past few months, Towner has been relocating Eastbourne Borough Council’s Heritage Collections to a new dedicated storage facility. We’re delighted to welcome you to our first Heritage Open Day, where we’ll be opening the doors to this new store for the very first time.

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at how these fascinating collections are cared for and stored. Members of the Towner team who helped with the move will be on hand to share stories from the project and explain what it means to take on the care and relocation of a heritage collection.

You’ll also have the chance to get up close to some of the wonderful treasures that belong to the people of Eastbourne. From intriguing objects to hidden gems, discover the stories behind the collection and learn how Towner team cares for these collections, on behalf of Eastbourne Borough Council.

Accessibility details

This is a working industrial estate and collections store, so please be aware of your surroundings when visiting. It is not suitable for dogs, due to the pest risk they serve to collections. There is level access and 6 available allocated parking spaces onsite, but we would advise attending via public transportation where possible. The archaeological collections are un-accessible to the public, due the sensitive nature of some of the material stored. Some items will be out for visitors to view, but the mezzanine collections area for this will be cordoned off.
