An illustrated talk by Patrick Comerford about the life & buildings of Edward Swinfen Harris, the turn of the century Arts & Crafts architect from Stony Stratford, whose distinctive buildings are to be found throughout the town and local area.

Ninety years before the appearance of the New Town of Milton Keynes, distinctive buildings began to appear in Stony Stratford, Wolverton Newport Pagnell and the surrounding area. They were the hand of Edward Swinfen Harris, the Stony Stratford based architect who, as well as designing a distinctive series of schools and houses in the surrounding area made alterations to a number of local churches. Milton Keynes Forum has been engaged on an exercise to bring his name to wider attention and this talk follows last year’s guided walk in Stony Stratford that commemorated the centenary of his death.
