Beautiful nineteenth century church, rebuilt by one of the greatest Victorian architects, standing on the site of a mediaeval Gilbertine Priory and incorporating fascinating ancient remains.

The site has been lovingly restored from almost complete ruin as a demonstration of fine traditional craftsmanship, and housing a wonderful collection of fittings and ancient and modern stained glass - much of it specially commissioned. The lovely churchyard, managed for the benefit of wildlife, is surrounded by the ings of the Lower Derwent Valley; one of the most precious flood-meadow landscapes in Britain and home to rare plants and birds.

Celebrated guided tours take place at 11.30am, 13.30pm and 15.30 pm, people return regularly to sample Michael's spectacular and delicious home-made cakes and fresh coffee. This year there is a new exhibition on village people and history, related events and stalls selling cards and books.
