Everyday Occupations in Village Life: Cobblers, Cooks & Maids
Explore times past in Calbourne Village as we discover the many occupations that existed in a time when these individual skills were essential in rural life. From the Blacksmith, the Wheelwright, the Carpenter, the Cobbler, the Miller, the Tailor, the Yeoman to the domestic positions of the Cook and the Maid.
The exhibition, in the Grade 11* listed 13th century village church, will be brought alive with many artefacts, photographs and individual stories with artist illustrations.

Turn south at Calbourne crossroads, the church can be found a few hundred metres from the crossroads. on the hill above the village green. Parking will be signposted

Accessibility details

Parking and toilets are available at the recreation centre, approx. 200m from the church. There is some parking available on the green next to the church for use by visitors with restricted mobility, a ramp allows access to the church Refreshments available

Additional information

A church has stood on this site, watching over the village and an important part of village life for over a thousand years. Hazel Pullen, a representative from the IW Family History Society will be at the event from 11am - noon and is happy to talk to anyone interested in researching their family history or becoming a member.
