Everyday Histories: Working Life at Strutt's North Mill

We're opening Strutt's North Mill for a fun day of history and family activities! Meet costumed characters as they tell you what life was like working at this revolutionary mill in the 19th century. Discover the amazing engineering of the Grade I listed North Mill with knowledgeable guides and short talks, as well as story time for the younger ones, and traditional crafts such as rag rugging for the young at heart! Watch spinning demonstrations whilst learning of the wonder of natural fibres, and have a go at mill jobs such as 'doffing' and 'carding' as you discover the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Accessibility details
There is level access to the ground floor of the North Mill, but the Basement level can only be accessed via a staircase. There is a lot of uneven surfaces due to the historic nature of the building and site.
