Join one of our free guided tours to explore one of England's finest surviving Anglo-Saxon churches. Discover its impressive nave, the rare external stair-turret—one of only four in England—and the remarkable ring crypt, one of only three of its kind in the country.
New for Heritage Open Days 2026, see the newly marked outlines of the original Anglo-Saxon porticus chapels, revealing the scale of the early church and offering a fresh perspective, even for returning visitors.
Our knowledgeable guides will bring Everyday Histories to life through stories of the people who worshipped, celebrated and found community here across thirteen centuries.
Extend your visit with a guided Brixworth Heritage Trail, exploring the village's rich history. At the Heritage Centre, enjoy the Brixworth Photographic Society exhibition, a specially produced Heritage Trail video, homemade cakes and refreshments, while younger visitors can take part in a family-friendly scavenger hunt.

Directions:

There is a signpost for the Church opposite the Coach and Horses public house, which is also the stopping point for the special bus sevices provided by Northampton Transport Heritage as part of this countrywide event. Stagecoach X7 service passes through Brixworth. The closest stop to the Church is opposite Dusty's Coffee & Kitchen.

Toilet facilities on site and accessible facilities are available in the Heritage Centre which is at the bottom of the road leading to the Church

Additional information

The Heritage Centre will also be open to the public from 11:00 until 17:00 and has a wonderful photographic display by Brixworth History Society showcasing some of Brixworth's Beautiful Buildings through time. The Church also has a selection of publications for sale on the history of the church and the Saxon times.
