Step into the rhythm of the past with Otley Museum's Heritage Day exhibition celebrating Otley's artisans from Butchers, Farriers, Clockmakers, Bootmakers, Leather workers and Rope making, as well as the warmth of the domestic hearth and home.

The exhibition is designed to display the Museum's artefacts showing the small but important independent businesses of the town which helped the community to thrive. All the industries were centred around the needs of the people in a mainly agricultural town that gradually became more industrialised but has kept its roots in farming and livestock. The farriers and butchers were necessary for the market town as were the ropemakers and the leather workers; all off shoots from the cattle and sheep markets. The plan is to show the artefacts along with explanations on display boards and volunteers there to answer any questions.
The Museum has the use of the Otley Courthouse for its display and we work alongside their team. Otley Courthouse will have its own display for the same day.
