Come and see the finds discovered in local gardens during community excavations from 2016 to 2023 and talk to experts about the significance of those finds.

Explore the fascinating history of Hyde through a chronological display of key finds uncovered during Hyde900’s community archaeological digs between 2016 and 2023. These discoveries shed light on the area once occupied by the historic Hyde Abbey — the final resting place of King Alfred the Great.
From a flint scraper blade to a fragment of clay pipe commemorating the Treaty of Paris, the exhibition includes finds from prehistoric times to the modern era.
Experts and representatives from Hyde900 will be on hand to interpret the finds and answer your questions, offering an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into the layers of local history beneath our feet.
