EXPLORE BOSTON'S HISTORIC VICTORIAN CEMETERY
Marian road, BOSTON, Lincolnshire, PE21 9HA
The cemetery is designated by English Heritage as an Historic Park and Garden and from 2007 became a Local Wildlife Site. The remaining cemetery chapel dates back to the cemetery's opening in 1855 but needs very serious restoration. The identical non-conformist building was demolished in 1961. On the Heritage Open Day, there are gravestone / history tours at 1030hrs and 1330hrs. In the Crematorium chapel there is an exhibition, displays, refreshments, book and plant stalls. Follow the self-guided Tree Trail. Stout shoes should be worn as paths off the main Lime Avenue are uneven, with slippery grass and there is a possibility of tripping over tree roots and rabbit holes. Wear suitable clothing to minimise catching Ticks. There is ample car parking but the car park is approx. 3oo yards from the Victorian section. Blue Badge holders, please call at crematorium chapel on arrival if this will prove difficult for access to the Victorian section. Please note, the figure of eight circular paths are not surfaced and are unsuitable for wheelchairs etc
