Exploring Hanley’s Monuments and Stories
Hanley Park Bandstand, Hanley, Staffordshire, ST4 2DU
Explore Hanley Park and Hanley Cemetery through a guided walk and self-guided trail examining the stories behind some of Hanley's historic sites and the people connected to them.
Discover the lives and legacies of figures including George Howson, John Birchall and Edwin John Hammersley, and explore the connections between Hanley Park and Hanley Cemetery before culminating at the Hanley Cemetery War Memorial, which is about to be restored as part of the Centenary Restoration Fund. You will also be invited to contribute your own thoughts and reflections on the importance of remembering and caring for the city's monuments.

Contributions can be submitted before, during or after the event through the following link: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/5mt3vS6zBC. These contributions will help create both a physical and digital community memory archive, recording the stories that matter to local people.
This activity forms part of the Centenary Restoration Fund, a project made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, monuments across Stoke-on-Trent are being repaired and celebrated through a programme of conservation and community engagement activities.
