Eynsford Castle

Step into the atmospheric ruins of Eynsford Castle and enjoy a peaceful visit surrounded by beautiful Kent countryside. Wander through the impressive remains, explore the castle grounds and take in the character of this unique historic site. As you wander through the remains, look closely at the surviving walls, moat and traces of the medieval buildings and imagine the people who once lived, worked and argued within these walls. With its unusual design and dramatic story, Eynsford offers a fascinating glimpse into medieval Kent and a chance to discover a hidden piece of England’s past.

Directions:

Road access - In Eynsford, off High Street (A225) via narrow unnamed lane directly opposite The Castle Hotel. There is an ‘Eynsford Castle’ sign on the left hand side shortly after at the start of this lane. There is a small free car park on site. Bus access - Arriva bus 478; Go-Coach 421; Nu Venture 405 (Wed) Train access - Eynsford 1 mile

Accessibility details

Parts of the site are suitable for wheelchair users but there are also some areas accessed via steps. English Heritage has no facilities at the castle but it is in the centre of Eynsford so there are plenty of options for places to eat and shops nearby.
