On its 110th anniversary, we explore through WW1 objects & first hand accounts, the Royal Warwickshire Regiment's part in the significant battle of Somme, 1916. Family activities will include real artefacts & creative activities linked to the theme.

2026 marks the 110th anniversary of the Somme Offensive, one of the most significant battles of the First World War. The museum will mark the occasion with a special temporary exhibition exploring stories of soldiers of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, dipping into personal diaries, photographs and letters as well as the uniforms and kit these soldiers wore. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of family activities exploring the life of soldiers in the trenches. This will include one particularly famous individual - A.A. Milne, the author of Winnie the Pooh who was a Signal Officer in the 11th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment during their time on the Somme. In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the first publication of 'Winnie the Pooh', the museum will have special family activities linked to Milne and his literary creations.
