Film Screenings at the Roots in a Place exhibition

As part of the Roots in a Place exhibition at Fronteer Gallery, we will be screening two films and a Q&A by multiple award-winning filmmakers and artists Jim and Joseph Dethick.

On Saturday 12th September we will screen the award-winning Peaceful Fields (2016), filmed in the Derbyshire hills over the course of a year. This will be followed by the premiere of Good Days Them Days (2026), which combines vintage Super 8 footage with present-day interview to explore the timelessness and beauty of memory for one Derbyshire farmer. Both films have a combined run time of 35 minutes.

The screenings will end with a Q&A with Jim and Joseph.

This is a ticketed event with limited seating, meaning some people will be standing throughout.

The Roots in a Place exhibition is not ticketed and you are welcome to visit anytime during opening hours. There will also be an opportunity to watch the two films during exhibition opening hours with headphones provided.

As well as an opportunity to meet and talk to filmmakers Jim and Joe Dethick, there will also be other artists from the Roots in a Place exhibition at this event. Before the film screening starts there will be an opportunity to look around the exhibition.
