A rare opportunity to explore Fort Burgoyne and discover more about the site’s history and it’s diverse range of wildlife. Parade ground, stables, and terreplein will be available to explore. Tours of restricted access areas bookable on the day

We welcome you to visit Fort Burgoyne, a Palmerston Fort built in the 1860s. Discover more about the site’s history and how it fits into the history of Dover.

The parade ground, stables, terreplein and some of the casemates will be available to explore at your leisure. Tours led by our knowledgeable volunteers will be available to book on the day providing access to the lower levels, shooting gallery, chemin de ronde, and other usually restricted access areas. Ensure to take in the wonder of the wildlife that calls this unique space home.

Fort Burgoyne is owned by the Land Trust and managed by White Cliffs Countryside Partnership for its historic and ecological importance.

Accessibility details

Dogs on leads are welcome but will not be allowed to the lower levels of the Fort - please remember to clean up after your dogs on site. The site is wheelchair accessible, however, there are sections that will be visited on the tours which will not be wheelchair accessible, and may be difficult for some people.
