Framed in Leeds
Left Bank, Cardigan Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 1LJ
‘Framed in Leeds’ is a self-led arts trail designed to inspire people of all ages and abilities to explore and creatively engage with the architecture of Hyde Park and Headingley. The trail encourages people to slow down, observe, and sketch details of local buildings using a special downloadable or printed trail map and a DIY cardboard “viewfinder” frame to help focus their gaze. It’s a free, inclusive activity promoting creativity, wellbeing, and a deeper knowledge and connection to the heritage of the local area.
The walk will be accessible featuring 8–10 locations that showcase a variety of architectural styles and details often overlooked – from Victorian terraces, stained glass, Burley Park to unique shopfronts and public buildings. At each stop, participants will be invited to sketch what they see, using creative prompts tailored to different skill levels and age groups.
Participants can access the trail via:
• A digital PDF map available via our website
• Printed trail packs available at Left Bank, local cafés, community hubs, and selected stops along the way.
• Each participant will be encouraged to make a simple cardboard frame (instructions included in the pack) to isolate interesting architectural details as they walk.
• There will be 4 volunteer-led walks for the community to take part in.
Dates for guided walks are Wednesday 17th September 3-4.30pm and 6-7.30pm and on Sunday 21st September 10-11.30am and 12-1.30pm.
