From Hearth To Highstreet
Bampton Heritage & Visitor Centre (in St Micahael & All Angels church), Station Road, Bampton, Devon, EX16 9NG
From Hearth to High Street celebrates everyday life in the village, capturing the people, homes, businesses, streets and community events that have shaped Bampton over the years. A continuous visual presentation showcases a carefully chosen selection of archive images, offering a glimpse into the village's rich social and architectural history.
Alongside the screening, visitors have a rare opportunity to browse original photograph albums and historic postcards from the Centre's collections. These fascinating items are not normally available for public viewing and provide an intimate window into Bampton's past, preserving memories of families, local traditions and familiar places that have changed—or, in some cases, remained remarkably the same.
Many of the photographs and documents on display have been generously donated by local residents over the years, helping to preserve the village's heritage for future generations. Every image tells a story, and together they create a lasting record of the community's shared history.
