From Quarry To Chapter House - Exclusive Medieval Stonemason tour of Buildwas Abbey

As part of the 2025 Heritage Open Days Festival, English Heritage are offering specialist free guide tours of Buildwas Abbey with our Medieval Stonemason. The tours will take place at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm on on Friday 19 September. Situated in a stunning wooded Severn-side setting, our expert tour guide volunteers will take you on a fascinating journey around the impressive ruins of this Cistercian abbey, including its unusually unaltered 12th century church, beautiful vaulted and tile-floored chapter house, and recently re-opened crypt chapel.

After your tour why not visit our cosy second hand bookshop or enjoy a picnic in the grounds. Dogs are welcome on leads. Tours are suitable for ages 8 and above. Please note their is a parking charge for non-members.
