Take time exploring the garden ‘rooms’ of this five acre garden. Designed by George Dillistone for the growing Terry family, during the chocolate factory hey day for the business. In keeping with the Arts and Crafts style, discover fragrant borders, wildlife areas, a small vegetable garden, orchard and glasshouse.
Refreshments are served on the sunny terrace overlooking the garden. Freshly baked scones and cakes, some with that infamous chocolate orange flavour can be enjoyed on a few outdoor tables and chairs. Alternatively, grab a reusable cup for a wander around the garden or pick one of the benches to pause and watch the wildlife at work.
The Terry factory clock tower can still be seen from the paddock orchard overlooking the racecourse linking the chocolate heritage of York and the Terry family from their factory to their home.
Please note that the house is used as a regional office and is closed to visitors. There is only accessible parking on site.
